Meditation is the experience of the present moment. As sound occurs, obstacles to presence are released by centering the mind on a focal point and giving the body an activity. The combination of mantra and meditation accesses a depth of concentration that furthers the awareness of the inner body essential for experiencing the nature of mind.
We will study several meditation styles, including the Dzogchen tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, walking meditation, and the teachings of Eckhart Tolle. We will learn mantra based in the Sikh tradition accompanied by harmonium. The class involves both sitting and movement; wear comfortable clothing.

PRANAYAMA

with Autumn Needles
July 11th, 2009 - 1-3:30 pm

Cost: $35 in advance/$40 day of

We all know breathing is important, that in fact breath is life, but what does that actually mean, and what can we do with that information? Does it really matter how we breathe as long as we are breathing? Can we make better use of our breath in yoga class? Come dive into pranayama, or breath control techniques, and find out for yourself! You will explore many of these ancient techniques, learning how to make use of them in your yoga practice and in your life.

We will do some yoga postures for warm-up and in conjunction with some of the breathing techniques, but we will focus primarily on the breath itself. Everyone is welcome regardless of experience or ability. Please inform the instructor of specific health issues, as not all techniques are suitable for particular conditions.
